The St. Matthew Baptist Church Health & Wellness Ministry began with the culmination of ideas to increase health awareness and disease prevention in Central Louisiana, more specifically the Boyce and Rapides Station community. The ministry began it's inception offering health care screening at the church on a weekly basis with the idea of steering people to primary care physicians or specialists who would be able to help them achieve optimal health. As the program matured the need became focused on providing education for the community on various health and medical topics. 

The Wellness Ministry is inclusive. It includes members of the church body with talents that include physicians, nurses, social service provides, other medical personnel, and a multitude of volunteers.

We give approximately 4 seminars a year. Each geared toward educating the church and community on a particular condition, disease or procedure. Each quarterly seminar has a different focus except the October seminar, which focuses on Breast Cancer Awareness. 

Our ministry is dedicated and devoted in educating and aiding our community in living a healthier life. We take great pride in providing programs and literature to increase the knowledge of our people.
